OLD TOWN. A favorite of locals and tourists for decades, this colorful marketplace features several specialty shops and restaurants. Merchandise from all over the world is available, with an emphasis on goods from Mexico. Special events such as the Cinco de Mayo festival, Dias de los Muertos celebration and Festival of Lights draw big crowds to Bazaar Del Mundo every year. Daily entertainment includes musicians and dancers, as well as craft and cooking demonstrations.

NORTH CENTRAL. This is San Diego's largest shopping venue, featuring over 200 specialty shops and department stores. Anchors include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and Robinsons-May. Other stores include Sephora, Abercrombie & Fitch, Restoration Hardware, BCBG, Kenneth Cole and Build-a-Bear Workshop.

CORONADO. Located on Coronado, this stylish shopping destination welcomes guests from the ferry with an outstanding view of the city's skyline and a host of specialty and souvenir shops. Restaurants and cafes also dot the area, amidst the lovely landscaping that includes ponds and palms. On Tuesdays, shoppers can peruse the weekly Farmers' Market.

GASLAMP QUARTER. This massive complex, bordered by First and Fourth Avenues, Broadway and G Streets, is home to over 130 shops and cafes, anchored by Nordstrom and Macy's. Other shops include Ann Taylor, Crabtree & Evelyn, Suncoast Motion Picture Company, Express, Gap, See's Candies, and J Crew.

MISSION VALLEY. Discount shoppers love this outdoor mall. It's got a Target and Nordstrom Rack among other moderately priced stores with quality selections. Large shops such Bed, Bath and Beyond and smaller stores like Charlotte Russe call the area home as well. A movie theater and plenty of eateries round out the offerings at this popular shopping destination.
